Taylor Morrison, a respected home builder has opened “Esplanade,” an “active lifestyle” community, the first such community in Lakewood Ranch. The firm said it wants to add something to Lakewood Ranch that isn't already there.”
What, you ask, is an “active lifestyle” community? Here’s a hint. It is not just an empty-nester or retirement community with a bike trail. First of all, it is not age-restricted. The Esplanade is a resort-style community of maintenance-free villas and modest sized homes surrounding a community center where all sorts of activities and programs will be offered by an on-site “lifestyle director.” Nestled on 207 acres just north of State Road 70, this gated enclave of 450 detached villas and single family homes brings a touch of the Mediterranean to Southwest Florida with its regional-inspired architecture, lush landscaping and serene lakes.
Esplanade villas are priced from the low-$200's for 2 bedroom, 2 bath homes with about 1,900 square feet. Single-family homes in the 2,200 to 3,150 sq ft range on larger lots are priced up to the mid-$300's. Most of the villas and homes are to be located on lakefront lots.
As part of Lakewood Ranch, the largest green-certified community in America and one of the best selling master-planned communities in Florida, Esplanade residents will also enjoy the many commercial, recreational and cultural opportunities that are so much a part of this nationally recognized, award-winning and eco-friendly master-planned community.
A 5,000 square foot community center, to be completed by late summer, will include a fitness center, yoga center, grand ballroom, catering kitchen, crafts room, billiards room, an outdoor kitchen, a lap pool as well as a resistance pool for low-impact water aerobics, a jacuzzi, a fire pit and barbecue area, boccie ball and pickle ball courts, and finally, even a lakeside canoe and kayak launch. For pet lovers, there will be a pet park, and, for those with kids or grandchildren, an adventure playground.
With only 450 homes initially, Esplanade will be more of a “boutique” community. With 7 homes sold during just the kick-off weekend, the public is already showing interest in this new type of community within Lakewood Ranch.
